Barren Strawberry


The Barren Strawberry, `Waldsteinia ternata,' is a wonderful ground cover than grows in full sunlight to partial shade. It prefers normal to somewhat sandy soils. The dark, dense, strawberry like foliage is evergreen and forms into nice mounds with a height of four to six inches. These plants bear yellow flowers in spring and then show warm, yellow colors in fall. This ground cover looks wonderful when grown with Veronica `Royal Candles,' Salvia `Marcus' and grasses.
