Perennials: Iris

Butter and Sugar Iris

The Iris Butter and Sugar, `Iris siberica,' features creamy white to butter yellow flowers that have greenish yellow veins. This Iris blooms from late spring into summer. With a plant height of nearly three feet and a spread of up to two feet, this plant is perfectly suited for the back of a flower garden, and is one of the most easily grown Iris plants. It prefers moist, well-drained soil in full sunlight, but will tolerate small amounts of afternoon shade. They grow best around pools, ponds and water gardens, and will also look wonderful in mass plantings. They can also be grown on steep banks to help in the prevention of erosion, and are deer resistant.
