The Lettuce Butterhead Kagraner Summer, `Lactuca sativa,' is also known as Butter Bow Head. This French variety has tasty, well-formed, medium sized heads that are slow to bolt in the summer heat. Originally from Germany, this lettuce is excellent for window boxes, indoor pots or as a cute border plant. Its mild tasting leaves are soft and buttery. This plant can survive in light shade. Lettuce plants grow well near cabbage, carrots, beets, garlic, onion and chives.
