Catnip

The Catnip, `Nepeta cataria,' is a wonderful herb that can be either grown in a container or directly in the garden. The leaves can be used to make a pleasant tea with a lemon-mint flavor and fragrance. The flowers bloom heavily in early to mid summer, and have scattered flowerings through early fall. It is often grown in very informal perennial beds or as a houseplant. Dried up, catnip can be used to make toys that will entertain cats for hours. Cats also will roll around and play in patches of catnip.
