Perennials: Ornamental Grass

Dwarf Variegated Ribbon Grass

The Grass Dwarf Variegated Ribbon grass, `Phalaris arundinacea dwarf garters,' is a very exceptional upright, arching grass. It is similar to Strawberries and Cream, except that the white striped foliage will lose its pink tint late in the spring. It is also much better mannered and not as floppy. The showy, soft white flowers rise up to one foot above the foliage. After the first frost, the foliage and flowers turn a warm beige in color, yet will remain through the winter. This is a very aggressive grower.
