Fall Bulbs: Daffodil

Little Gem Trumpet Daffodil

The Daffodil 'Little Gem', 'Narcissi trumpet', a fall planted bulb, was introduced circa 1938. This early-flowering jewel is clear yellow with a deep yellow, flared trumpet. Nothing more signifies that spring is here than does the appearance of Trumpet Daffodils and their large blooms. The trumpets are as long, or longer than the perianth (the six petals that form a circle at the back of the flower). If necessary, very large clumps of bulbs can be lifted as soon as the leaves wither, and then they can be divided and replanted as soon as possible.
