Shrubs: Forsythia

Meadowlark Forsythia

The Forsythia Meadowlark, `Forsythia x meadowlark,' is a fast growing deciduous shrub that produces bright yellow flowers. The flowers will line its arching branches in April to produce a ten-foot waterfall of glowing color. This true harbinger of spring is most noted for the cold hardiness of its buds, as well as its blooming ability after being exposed to temperatures below zero. Planting it in full sunlight will encourage a heavier flowering.
