The Lilac Miss Kim, `Syringa patula,' is thought by many to be the best variety of lilac in the Midwestern United States. This very popular shrub produces an abundance of fragrant blossoms in the spring. These flowers begin as dark lavender-pink buds that will fade to a very soft lavender-pink once they are fully opened. This is a wonderful shrub for being used in a foundation planting. Although it is resistant to powdery mildew, Miss Kim Lilac bushes will suffer under extended periods of drought, and can drop many of their leaves.
