The Tigridia Mixed, `Tigridia,' produces many flowers in a wide array of colors. This spring planted corm displays its blooms atop tall stems that appear to float above the lovely foliage. Several flowers are grown on each stalk. The plants are highly attractive when they are grown in sunny borders or flowerbeds. The foliage is very similar to that of gladiolus plants. Tigridia is also known by the names Mexican Shell Flower and Tiger Flower. Its receives its common name from the spots on each of the flowers that look like tiger spots.
