Shrubs: Other Shrubs

MN Snowflake Mock Orange

The Minnesota Snowflake Mock Orange, `Philadelphus x virginalis,' is a very compact, deciduous shrub. It produces fragrant, double white flowers that bloom in late spring in clusters of five to seven each. Its dark green, oval leaves can reach three and a half inches in length. This three-foot tall shrub blooms on the previous year's growth, so it should always be pruned immediately after the flowers have been spent. It can even be cut to the ground after flowering if it becomes scraggly, unkempt or in need of rejuvenation.
