Shrubs: Viburnum

Mohican Viburnum

The Viburnum Mohican, `Viburnum lantana,' displays a very compact growth habit. This is an incredibly tough shrub that will be an evergreen in warmer climates. Its dark, hairy leaves will create the perfect dark background to showcase other plants. Its creamy white, flat-topped flower will entirely envelop the plant in late April or May. These flowers are followed by orange-red fruits in early July that will last a month before fading to black in the fall. This shrub will make a nice hedge with its compact shape and heavy, dark green foliage. It also features an attractive fall color.
