Mountain Laurel


The Mountain Laurel, `Kalmia latifolia,' is a natural beauty in any woodland setting. This native American plant is the state flower of both Connecticut and Pennsylvania. This spring delight should be planted high and mulched well. The roots should be given shade, either with mulch or companion plants. The plants should be watered often during the growth period, and they should not be allowed to dry out. The soil should be well drained and acidic with ample humus.
