Trees: Pine

Mugho Pine

The Muhgo Pine Tree, `Pinus mugo mughus,' is an evergreen dwarf conifer with branching, upright stems. It is evenly covered with two-inch long deedless that are a deep, dark true green color. The roots of this pine tree grow near the surface of the soil, so a cover of about two inches of mulch is recommended for protection. It is an easily transplanted tree, but does require good soil drainage. Their shape and size can be controlled by shearing, so they make fantastic landscaping trees. The Muhgo pine tree is also known as the dwarf mountain pine.
