Niobe Clematis

The Clematis Niobe, `Jackmanii x group,' features dark red flowers with gold anthers that bloom from June to July and are six to eight inches wide. The rather large plants have a height of six to ten feet with a spread of up to three feet. Their foliage is dark green, and will make a great contrast with the boldly colored flowers. The tops of the plants prefer full sunlight, while the roots require a cool, shady area. For this reason, it is best to heavily mulch the ground around these plants. This variety received the Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society.
