Trees: Spruce

Norway Spruce

The Norway Spruce Tree, `Picea abies,' can reach a height of five feet in six or seven years when planted on a good site, and will ultimately tower over the landscape at one hundred and fifty feet. This fast growing tree is one of the best conifers for use as a shelter tree or windbreak. Its branches are grown densely into one another. Space the trees six feet apart for a fantastic windbreak or noise abatement. They also make fantastic ornamentals, as their branches will droop gracefully as the tree matures.
