Trees: Oak

Nuttall Oak

The Nuttall Oak Tree, `Quercus nattallii,' is one of the few commercially important species that can be found on poorly drained clay flats and low bottoms of the Gulf Coastal Plain. They can also be seen growing naturally north, in the Mississippi and Red River Valleys. Not distinguished as its own species until 1927, the Nuttall oak tree is used to produce timber, as well as manage wildlife. It is also known as the Red Oak, Red River Oak and Pin Oak.
