Oakleaf Hydrangea


The Oakleaf Hydrangea, `Hydrangea quercifolia,' features elongated, white flowers that slowly turn pinkish as they mature. This upright, deciduous shrub has a broad, rounded habit and generally grows to a height of four to six feet. Best grown in fertile, medium wet, well draining soil in full sun to partial shade, Oakleaf is commonly used for backgrounds, accents or specimens, foundation plantings or as a hedge. The root zone should be mulched in the summer to help provide more consistent moisture. If pruning is required, which is rarely is, it should take place after the flowering season.
