Trees: Flowering Cherry

Okame Cherry

The Okame Cherry Tree, `Prunus Okame,' produces flowers with carmine-pink petals, rose red calyxes and reddish stalks that open fully before the foliage emerges. With a very consistent year-to-year blooming habit, this is one of the earliest flowering cherry trees. It will reach a height of twenty to thirty feet at maturity. When young, the trees will be broad and columnar in shade, becoming more rounded with maturity. This is a fine specimen tree that should be sited where it will be seen easily in early spring.
