Persian Fritillaria


The Persian Fritillaria, 'Fritillaria persica', is a fall planted bulb. The impressive Crown Imperial has a bundle of bell-like flowers all around the stem and a whimsical crown of green leaves. The pendulous flowers make a bold statement in the garden. It is by far the most well-known species and also one of the earliest plants to be cultivated. Mark the location of the bulbs to avoid any damage when digging or raking. The Persian Fritillaria blooms in mid to late spring for a 3 week period.
