The Pin Oak Tree, `Quercus palustris,' is one of the fastest growing of all oak trees, and can grow twelve to fifteen feet in as few as five to seven years. It has moderate water requirements, as well as a moderate tolerance to salt and alkali soils. It can prosper in a wide range of soil types, including wet soils. Its limbs will to droop with age, and young trees and the lower branches of older trees will hold their leaves throughout the winter. This deciduous tree is probably the most widely planted native oak tree for landscaping purposes.
