Pink Weigela


The Pink Weigela, `Weigela florida,' is most prized for its showy, bell-shaped flowers and spreading, arching growth habit. This deciduous shrub has dark green leaves that are oval and tapered, up to two and a half inches long. Its dark pink flowers have pale pink-white interiors, and can be up to 1-¬ inches long. The flowers are produced in corymbs on short, lateral twigs from the previous year's growth. They appear in late spring and persist until early summer. The blooms are attractive to hummingbirds. This plant is very nice in a mixed shrub border, and is native to China.
