Red Chokeberry


The Red Chokeberry, `Aronia arbutifolia Brilliantissima,' displays its clusters white to pinking flowers in the spring. These flowers are followed by abundant glossy red fruits up to one half inch in diameter, that appear in dense clusters along the branches. This deciduous shrub, which is most noted for its red berries and red fall foliage, will slowly grow to from six to eight feet in height. They are tolerant of a wide range of soils. The best fruit production will occur when planted in full sunlight. The Chokeberry bush will spread by root suckers to form small colonies.
