The Red Prince Weigela, `Weigela florida,' produces red, bell-shaped flowers that bloom in early summer and have a repeat bloom in late summer. This deciduous shrub is a full sized plant that has good hardiness. Its red flowers will hold late into the season. The deep, purple-tinted green foliage will form a compact mound up to six feet in height at maturity. Growing best in full sun to partial shade, this Weigela prefers a well draining soil.
