Rutgers Select Tomato

The Tomato Rutgers Select, `Lycopersicon lycopersicum,' is a great all-purpose variety, and is ideal for canning. The fruits ripen evenly from the inside out. The bright red fruits have a full bodied flavor, and are medium sized round globe fruits. The soil should be well drained and high in organic matter. In warmer regions, tomatoes can be planted in early fall for a harvest in the winter. When watering, the soil should be soaked to a depth of six to ten inches. The plants require at least six hours of direct sunlight every day.
