The Scotch Pine Tree, `Pinus sylvestris,' is a fast growing and irregularly shaped tree. This evergreen conifer is native to Europe and is a very popular selection for a Christmas tree. Its foliage is evergreen and consists of short, twisted needles that are a bluish-green in color and will often fade to a yellow-green in the winter months. This is a very hardy and rapidly growing pine tree. It can be used as a windbreak, when planted in east or south locations in rows. It will grow best in partial shade to full sunlight.
