Perennials: Other Perennials

Shimmer Mixed Spiderwort

The Spiderwort Shimmer Mixed, `Tradescantia andersoniana,' is a consistent bloomer from June to October. The large flowers, which range from pink, blue, rose, mauve and white, attract butterflies and contrast greatly with the compact and upright green foliage. Each individual flower will only bloom for one day, but new flowers will emerge throughout the blooming season. The plants grow to thirty inches in height with a mature spread of two to three feet. This is one plant that should not be missed. This definite eye catcher looks great in wild and naturalistic woodlands, in any perennial bed or as a border plant. Try planting them with Geranium Johnson's Blue or Alchemilla Lady's Mantle.
