The Silver Pussy Willow, `Salix chaenomeloides,' produces reddish brown leaves that will mature to a dark blue-green color. This handsome shrub has very large red flower buds that will develop into silky pink catkins, 2 « to three inches long each. The catkins emerge in early spring from the dark red buds. They start out silver gray, but will slowly mature to a light pink color. Its mahogany red stems will add interest to any garden in the winter. They will grow best in a sunny location in a moist, well draining soil.
