The Southern Red Oak Tree, `Quercus falcata,' is a medium-sized tree with a short trunk and very large branches that support its rounded crown. This tree is characterized by its bark, which is dark gray in color, furrowed and marked by rough edges and plates. This deciduous tree is a good shade tree that is adapted to drier areas.
