Shrubs: Potentilla

Tangerine Potentilla

The Tangerine Potentilla, `Fruticosa tangerine,' produces orange flowers that will last for several weeks, just like other varieties of cinqufoils. The flowers will be bright yellow if the plants are in full sunlight, but fade to orange in cooler weather or partial shade. This excellent but rare wildlife shrub features the unique trait that it grows prostrate. Its dense foliage will spread out horizontally across the ground slowly and produce a very thick mat. The plants should be pruned back every two or three years. This will help to rejuvenate the plants.
