The Texas Red Oak, `Quercus buckleyi,' is a medium sized tree that can achieve a height of thirty or more feet with an equal spread. This tree will develop a rather typical shape and form for the species with its dense, rounded canopy. It can also be found in the wild as a multi-stemmed variety. The trees are moderately fast growing, especially for a hardwood tree. Their bark is thick with scaly ridges that are separated by deep, dark furrows.
