Texas Whitebud


The Texas Whitebud Tree, `Cercis canadensis,' is a small, deciduous under-story tree that will typically grow to about twelve to eighteen feet high. It produces clusters of tiny, white, pea-like flowers that bloom profusely on the branches and mature trunks for about two to three weeks during the early spring months, before the leaves form. The foliage is glossy green, and has a yellow fall color. This is a perfect small tree for lawns and naturalized areas. It can also be used in residential areas as a street tree.
