Yellow Emperor Ixia


The Ixia Yellow Emperor, `Ixia acaulis,' will produce lovely yellow flowers among its sword-like leaves. The long flower stems of this spring planted corm are adorned with the star shaped flowers. It is most commonly grown in borders, beds or containers and will provide excellent cut flowers. They should be planted in any well draining, rich and fertile soil, and will love sunlight and heat. Commonly called the African Lily, the cut flowers of an Ixia will last for over two weeks.
